About therapy
Therapy allows you to navigate through your own experiences and recognize patterns in your life. It allows you to see your strengths and feel supported in making choices for yourself. Therapy also gives you a non-judgmental space to express your true feelings and learn self-regulation skills. Therapy is a place to find yourself, even if you are not sure who that may be for now.
Some benefits of therapy include personal growth through understanding relationship patterns, identifying and honoring coping strategies, learning about nervous-system activation and how to work through the body to calm feelings of unsafety, increased self-awareness, and improvements in interpersonal relationships. Therapy includes risks. You may experience discomfort or uncomfortable feelings while discussing your story. Psychotherapy can lead to changing perspectives, which can at times feel destabilizing. You may come across some resistance from others as you are undergoing this change. I will work with you to minimize the risks of therapy and maximize the benefits of therapy. I welcome and encourage any questions or feelings regarding our work together.
